1. In my book right now, Jeremy, the main character is on his way to a small town in Georgia. He is a science journalist, and is basking in his moment of fame after appearing on a TV show. On the show, a man named Timothy Clausen convinced the audience that he could talk to spirits. Jeremy wanted to prove that he was a con man, and he set up Mr. Clausen. He found out that while people are mingling together before the show, Timothy has scouts that go around and listen to people's conversations. The scouts then report the information back to Mr. Clausen, and he then 'randomly' picks a member of the crowd. Most people fall for the trick, but since Jeremy made up a story and told everyone it was his past, he was able to pretend he fall for it while he actually knew the truth.
2. I am liking this book so far because it seems very interesting. Jeremy is going to Georgia to investigate some strange noises and lights in a cemetary, and I think it will be funny as he has allready duped a man who tells everone he can communicate with the spirit world. I was and still am a little bored with this book, but in the last Nicholas Sparks book I read took a while to get into, so I think this might be the same. They seem to be a bit slow at the beginning, then pick up and become funny and sad and romantic at the same time after about a hundred pages.
3. The theme I notice in this book so far is trickery. First, the con man Timothy Clausen earns a living by tricking people and cheating. He tells people he can communicate with the spirit world meanwhile he just has scouts with video camera pins and audio devices to capture what they say about themselves before the show. Jeremy Marsh is a journalist, so he is often trying to find ways to trick people into telling him information that they do not want him to find out. He and his colleagues are constantly trying to prove that other people are lying and ruin their reputations. I don't think that Jeremy particularly likes doing this for a living, but he is good at it and becoming more famous with every story and report he makes.
4. My favorite character is Alvin, Jeremy's best friend because he is excitable and very enthusiastic. He is constantly teasing and pulling jokes on his friends and colleages, but he seems like a very enjoyable peorson to be around. Jeremy met him while they were working on a story, and they became such good friends that they just decided to continue working together even after the story was published. I think that Alvin is also very supportive of Jeremt especially with his divorce, and helps him out a lot.
5. My least favorite charater is Nate because he is kind of a downer and is too foccussed on is job. While at a party celebrating for Jeremy, and the TV show that Jeremy wa son comes on the TV, he is shushing everyone and not letting everyone talk and congradulate and enjoy the party. He just seems way too uptight, and not a good match for the rest of the young and excited journalists. I think that because he is Jeremy's personal assistant that he will have a big part in the story later on because they give a lot of detail about him, which is probably introducing you to him for later.
6. I predict that the graveyard story will lead Jeremy to a woman he wil fall in love with, but there will be some sort of major conflict. I think that someone they both love or come to love will die, maybe even one of them. I think this because in almost all of the Nicholas Sparks books, someones father, mother, child, lover, or friend dies and it is really sad. They are also really suspenseful during the last twenty pages, but a lot of the time the lovers end up together in a happily ever after situation.
