1. Right now in my book, the protagonist, Will, is anticipating the choosing. This is an event where each person can choose a young apprentice to learn their trade. Mostly everyone knows who is going to choose them, but the main character is not so sure if he will be chosen at all. It is very rare for someone not to be chosen, but he still fears that he will not.

2. So far, this has been a very interesting book. They have already started developing the charcters and describing the setting and community, though I am not very far into the book. I think the author does a good job with both of these. He describes 3 dimensional characters and a vivid setting which makes the book come to life.

3. The most prevalent theme at the moment in this book is outcast. Will has no past; no one knows who his parents are or where he came from. Also, he doesn't seem to have a place so far as working, which is why he is afraid he will not be chosen at all at the choosing. For these reasons, I think that even though the character belongs to the community, in a way, he is an outcast.

4. So far, my favorite character in this book is Will. Though he is not as big as his roommate, who always pushes him around, he knows how to deal with him and is often able to avoid confrontation.

5. My least favorite character in this book so far is Horace. A roommate of Will's, he spends a lot of time around him. He seems to take out a lot of his anger on Will, even though he did nothing to deserve it himself. Constantly, he makes fun of the fact that no one knows who his parents are, points out his faults, etc. For these reasons, I very much dislike this character.

6. I think that the next thing in this book to happen will be that no one chooses Will in the choosing. However, I think eventually he will be taken on as a 'Ranger's Apperentice', that being the title of the book.
