1. Right now in the book I am still learning about the two main characters lives. Adrienne is explaining these characters in a story from her past. Adrienne is telling her depressed daughter this because her daughter is going through heartbreak because her husband died. This story is very important to Adrienne and she feels like she really needs to share it with someone. In the story Adrienne and a man Paul Flanner were the only two people at a little inn in Rodanthe, North Carolina during the middle of a major storm. Adrienne was just abandoned by her husband who went and married a new woman. Her three children were currently teenagers. She had to deal with mood swings, attitudes, and messy rooms. Paul Flanner the man she met at the inn had worked his way through life as doctor and ignored everything else. His wife abandoned him and he had no relationship with his only son. These two characters turned to each for comfort and are learning that they like each other a lot.
2. So far this isn't my favorite Nicholas Sparks book. All of the books I have read had had romances between young couples and the stories were really exciting. So far this story is about an older couples love and the story is boring me. I think that I enjoy love stories between younger people because I can relate to the story more.
3. A theme I have noticed in the book so far is loss. Adrienne lost her husband who divorced her, and her dad who died and was her best friend. Adrienne's daughter also just lost her husband who she loved dearly. Paul lost his wife who also divorced him and his son who Paul who he payed no attention too. These characters have all had to deal with the sadness of losing love ones. I think this theme is important and the characters will come together to help each other cope with their losses.
4. My favorite character is Adrienne. Adrienne is a really good role model for her kids. She also always has a positive attitude no matter what is going on. She has gone through many bad things but she doesn't let that get her down. She tries her best to stay happy and move on in her life. I think it takes a really strong person to be able to do that.
5. My least favorite character is Adrienne's daughter Amanda. What I don't like about Amanda is that she is so depressed and it's affecting her little kids. Amanda had lost her husband which I know must have been extremely sad and hard. But she had a few months to recover but she is still gloomy and doesn't even make an effort to move on in her life. Her five and six year old kids are being affected by her behavior and starting to act strange. She doesn't take anyone's advice and she won't even take help from her own mother. I think she needs to think about her poor children and try to be positive and pull herself together.
6. I predict that Paul and Adrienne will fall in love. It's sort of obvious because they are the only ones at the inn and they are already showing signs of it. They talk to each other really easily and their lives are very similar. I also predict that someone is going to die because Nicholas Sparks always has sad emotional parts in his books.
