1. Right now in my book, the three main characters: Gecko, Terence, and Arjay, have just rescued their guardian Mr. Healy from a mental hospital. Mr. Healy runs a halfway house that gives kids who are stuck in juvinial detention centers a second chance in the real world. The three boys were chosen for this program but a few days in, they accidentally knocked Mr. Healy off a railing and he fell and hit his head. They dropped him off at a hospital where he was discovered to have amnesia and couldn't remenber anything. The boys were on their own with no legal guardian and had to rescue Mr. Healy from the mental hospital where he was transfered to.
2. So far, I really enjoy the book. It is just the type of genre that I love to read and it is a very exciting book. The book is full of suspense and action such as break-ins and car chases. Gecko, although only fourteen, is a master behind the wheel of a car and is can usually make a seemingly impossible getaway in a tight situation. Terence believes that he is a gangster and attempts to join a gang in New York City only to have them show up at his house and attack him. Gordon Korman really knows how to keep a reader interested and I almost never wanted to put the book down.
3. A very important theme that I notice in this book would be running out of time. Once Mr. Healy is in the hospital, the boys have to fend for themselves and it won't be to long before the director comes in for a report. If someone comes looking for Mr. Healy and he isn't there, the boys go back to Juvie. The school will also eventually want to see Mr. Healy and he is currently in a hospital with no memory of his life at all. The boys have a limited time to bust him out of the hospital and bring back his memory before someone comes looking for him if they want to stay out of juvie.
4. My favorite character in the book is Gecko. He is one of the boys in the halfway house and he is an expert driver. The boys need to get Healy out of the hospital and that means a good getaway driver. Gecko is masterful behind the wheel and can get out of almost any situation if he has a car. Although he did break the law, it was onlybecause his older brother recruited him as a getaway driver for his gang. Despite his criminal record, Gecko is actually a good kid.
5. My least favorite character in the book is Ms. Vaughn. She is the director of the program and she is the one who comes to check on the boys and Mr. Healy to see how they are doing. She seems to always be in a bad mood and I cannot recall one point in the book when she has been happy. When she comes for her visit, the boys spend the entire day cleaning and the house is completely spotless. Although the house has been cleaned almost to perfection, she gets upset over a little bit of dust on a table.
6. My prediction of what will happen next is that Mrs. Vaughn will discover what the boys have gotten into over the past weeks. Although she is a very grumpy person, she might understand their story and decide to let them keep living in the halfway house. It is also possible that she might come and see how well the boys are behaving and then leave without discovering that the boys have been on their own in the house with no guardian until yesterday.
