1. Right now, both the Cullens and the pack of werewolves are preparing for the attack by the large group of vampires in Seattle. These vampires are headed by Victoria, a vampire who has a deadly grudge against Bella. Victoria despises Bella because her love, James, was killed by Edward. In Victoria's eyes, it is more fair to kill Bella and have Edward suffer the loss of his love, then vice versa. The Cullens suspect that the 20 or more young vampires are simply a ruse to distract them, so Bella is trying to convince Edward and Jacob to stay with her. During the strategy and training sessions, the werewolves are reluctantly admitting that the Cullens are good fighters, and that they need each other's help to win the battle. The fight will be an even match, but an even match means that they might lose someone. Who will survive?
2. So far, I really enjoy this book. The familiar, clear writing style of Stephanie Meyers is one of the best parts of this book. The plot can become complicated, but the way that all of the facts are laid out to see untangles the complicated web of the plot. Also, I like the extreme variation in the characters. For example, the character Alice Cullen is inquisitive, curious, and very energetic. Bella, however, is more quiet, and down to earth, but is still not boring. Also, while Edward is courteous and polite, Jacob is rude. Finally, I enjoy the way that the plot is full of twists and new developments. There was a point in the book when I had no idea who created all of the vampires in Seattle, and the next page I had an 'aha!' moment. This was because of only one small hint. Throughout the entire book, I have not had one page that I didn't like.
3. One theme that I have noticed throughout Eclipse so far is the theme of regret. This shown in almost every page. For example, every time that Edward looks at Bella, he feels a wave of regret wash over him. This is because he left Bella during the second book, New Moon. He left to save her, but ended up only wishing that he never had left. Also, there is regret every time that either the pack or the Cullens are trying to catch Victoria, and they end up only getting in each other's way. Finally, Jacob shows regret when he says that if there was no magic, no fantasy, that he and Bella would be soul mates. Jacob wishes for what can't happen, and I think that Bella secretly does too.
4. My favorite character in Eclipse so far is Alice Cullen. She is my favorite character because she is spunky, and funny. She also can act in ways that are completely unexpected. For example, when she beat Jasper in a fight. No one would have guessed that it is possible for her to do that, but she did. Also, Alice adds funny and interesting elements to even the most serious situations. For example, when they are all preparing for the fight, Alice does or says something that will make you crack up. Also, Alice can overcome adversity well. She doesn't know where she was born, or who she was before she was transformed. As it turns out, she was from an old mental hospital, and she was abandoned by her parents. The man who changed her was previously killed bye James, so Alice was alone when she woke up. Alice formed a conscience un-influenced, and chose her own path with no one to teach her right from wrong. Alice would always be my favorite character, no matter what.
5. My least favorite character is the mysterious cat-burgular who invaded Bella's room, and took her clothing to use as a material for tracking. This mystery person was the person who really set the chain of events off. When they found out that someone was taking piece of Bella's scent, the entire group of vampires and werewolves all set out to find and kill them. Even though this character played a small part in terms of how many times you saw him, he managed to fit onto my 'least favorite list'.
6. I predict that someone will get hurt during the fight. If no one was hurt, or killed then the ending would be too happy, and would not fit the writing style of Stephanie Meyers. Also, I predict that Victoria will be killed. I think that this will happen because every time that they see her, she is getting closer and closer. She is getting sloppy, making mistakes. She is becoming desperate in her hunt for Bella. That will eventually get her killed.
