A.J. Ward
The Lost Symbol
Dan Brown
Adventure Fiction
Challenge
509 (finished)

1. Right now the main character Robert Langdon has just stopped the bad guy in the book, named Mal'akh from killing his friends Peter and Katherine Solomon. Robert is a Harvard college professor, and earlier in the book he was tricked into coming to Washington D.C. for what he thought was a lecture. Since he was there he teamed up with the C.I.A. to catch an insane murderer, Mal'akh, who has Robert's friends hostage.

2. I really liked this book, it was cool how the author blended actual historical events into this book. There were lots of times when the author mentioned people like Isaac Newton, and one time he uses a magic square made by Ben Franklin to solve a puzzle leading them to Mal'akh. I also liked the writer's writing style, and this is why I have read all of the books in this series.

3. A theme in the book would be decisiveness. The main character had to make some very quick and some life and death decisions throughout the book. One time he hides on a baggage claim like carousel to get away from Mal'akh who is chasing him. Robert is very claustrophobic but it is either hiding in there or he dies.

4. My favorite character is Robert Langdon, he never thinks of himself first because he knows that his friends are in danger. Even though he is a college professor he is a good person for this kind of job because he is a intense swimmer so he is in shape. Mr. Langdon is also an extremely smart symbolist which makes him very interesting.

5. My least favorite is the director of the C.I.A. Inoune Sato. Mrs. Sato comes in to the book and tries to help Robert, find Mal'akh, she never tells anyone why she thinks this is an issue of national security. This is one of the reasons I do not like her, she doesn't tell anyone anything. Also she bosses everybody around, and she was never very helpful in finding Mal'akh and the people he kidnapped.

6. This book did end how I expected. As in most books the main character in this case Robert saves the day, and kills the antagonist. Throughout the whole book Mal'akh is trying to get Robert to decipher old riddles, which is why he kidnaps his Friends, hoping that Robert can lead him to the Lost Symbol. In the end of the book Robert ends up finding out what the Lost Symbol is and it is really very interesting, overall I liked the ending.
