1. Right now in the book Sipho wants more glue because it helps him sleep at night when it gets cold on the streets in South Africa. The glue also helps Sipho forget about his family that he ran away from. Jabu yells at Sipho because his friend died from sniffing too much glue and he knows that sniffing glue only leads to bad things. Joseph wanted Sipho to buy it because he wanted to share it with Sipho. The two had an argument, but Sipho decided to buy a coat instead.
2. I think this book is really interesting because of how realistic it is and how detailed the author is about the streets and about the hardships all the kids have to face. Like the first day Sipho tries to make some money and when he finally does it is stolen from him. Another example of a hardship they faced was when all of the gang's blankets were stolen and they had to sleep out in the cold.
3. The theme I have noticed so far is adaptation. You see this very often like when Sipho didn't know how to make money on the street until he saw two kids bringing grocery carts to customers cars. When he saw this he quickly learned what to do and made a lot of money compared to what other kids had made. Also you see this when the gang finds that the blankets were stolen and they have to adapt by using cardboard and other materials.
4. My favorite character is Sipho because he never gives up and he is very lucky. For example one day while he is walking down the street a shop keeper asks him if he wants a job. These little things mean a lot for kids on the street.
5. My least favorite character is Jabu because he is a very bad influence. Like when he gets Sipho to sniff glue and gets him addicted to it.
6. I think that something bad will happen to Sipho because everything is going to well for Sipho and nobody really likes him because of his luck.
