1. Right now in my book, Percy, Annabeth, and their demigod companions are at Mount Olympus. They were just given a message from the god Hermes. He gave them a bunch of messages including one from Annabeth's mom. Athena, god of wisdom, told Annabeth to try plan 23. Annabeth knows this is one of Daedalus's plans on the laptop he gave her and so she looks it up. Annabeth and Percy were starting to look over the plans when one of there half-blood friends comes over and tells them he has to show them something. When they reach the edge of Mount Olympus they look over the side to see that New York asleep. It is completely silent and people are passed out on the ground. They realize that that means New York is about to be under attack.
2. I am finding the book very good so far. It is action packed and very mysterious, you never know what is going to happen next. There are many obstacles the characters have to overcome and deal with. They have to fight off monsters, evil demigods and gods, and titans. They have the weight of the future resting on them and so if they don't succeed, the world will fall into the grasp of the titans. I think the book has a captivating plot. Also, I really like is how the characters react to situations and develop over the series. This is the last book in the series and I am sad it is almost over for me, which shows how much I enjoyed it.
3. The theme of this book is making choices. The characters were put into situations that hard decisions have to be made. For example, the gods were put into a decision to fight Typhon, the father of all monsters, or protect Olympus from being attacked by the titans. They choose Typhon because in the past he was hard to capture while the Titans try to overrule the gods every so often and the gods have handled it before. This decision may result in everything being fine, or Olympus could be in great danger. This is just one of many decisions that have to be made. This choice may not seem risky to the gods, but Percy and his friends disagree. A choice that was more risky was when Percy decided to bath in the River Styx. It made him stronger but also could have resulted in his death.
4. My favorite character is Nico. He is a half-blood and a son of Hades. He was only about 10 years old when he was introduced to the series. He is a tough kid who has been put through a lot and you really see him develop and mature during the series. Even though he is a son of Hades he has a sense of humor. I feel sympathetic towards Nico because he lost his sister at a young age, and she was all that he had. His father likes his sister is better, and wishes that she was alive rather than Nico. Nico also was manipulated by his father into getting percy captured in the underworld, all because Nico wanted information so much about his family. He didn't know that Hades was planning on capturing Percy not just questioning him. Lastly, Nico has interesting powers, like being able to call up warriors from the dead and being able to travel by shadows.
5. My least favorite character is Hades. He treated his own son very cruelly and used him to get what he wanted which was t capture Percy so that he couldn't fulfill the prophecy and Nico would get it instead. The prophecy says that someone will either save or destroy Olympus. So, if Nico got the prophecy and succeeded in saving Olympus, Hades thinks he will be made the king of all gods. Hades doesn't care about what happens to anyone else but himself and is refusing to help against the titans and Typhon.
6. I think that Percy and Annabeth are going to try the plan that Athena sent the message to them about. I think they are going to have trouble getting it ready because Annabeth said it was very dangerous. Probably, right as they finish getting the invention plan ready, the titans are going to arrive at Olympus and will surround them.
