1. Right now in my book, the clans have been experiencing a drought, and decide to send warriors up the river to see what is blocking it. These cats on the patrol have found out that beavers have built a dam in the river, completely blocking all of their water. We follow the story through two main cats Dovepaw and Lionblaze, as they try to fight off the beavers and when that doesn't work, they try to dismantle the dam while the beavers are asleep. Meanwhile, Lionblaze's brother Jayfeather is worrying about a prophecy that says that he, Lionblaze, and Dovepaw will be more powerful than anything ever known to these cats. The prophecy has given all of them some special powers.
2. I really like my book because it is very suspenseful with a lot of good action in it. The only bad part is that your following the story through Jayfeather's point of view, and then this giant cliffhanger comes up, but then you go back to the part of the story involving Lionblaze and Dovepaw. This also works in reverse, but every time the cliffhanger gets bigger so then you don't care as much about the old one so you quickly go through the chapter to find out what happens, but then the reader gets left with an even bigger cliffhanger so they don't care as much about the other anymore. This could get a bit frustrating at times, but it did make the story have an extremely interesting plot.
3. A theme that I have noticed so far in this book is the theme of teamwork. Usually, the four different clans are very hostile towards each other mainly because they are very territorial. However, I see this theme when the drought forces them all to work together to send warriors to go and unblock the river. I especially see this in the multi-clan patrol where they start off very hostile towards each other and then realize that they can't do anything alone and need to work together to dismantle the dam.
4. Right now my favorite character is Jayfeather. He is a medicine cat, so he knows all the herbs to use and doesn't concentrate on the fighting, which is very different from the past books in the series. He is also blind, which is another first, but he gets around just fine thanks to his other heightened senses. It really gives the reader another perspective to see through when the cat can't even see, so it's fun to read what he thinks. The last reason that I like him so much is that his special power is that he can walk in the dreams of cats and talk to his warrior ancestors. In my opinion, this is very cool because it's something I've never read about before.
5. My least favorite character is currently Dovepaw. The main reason is that her special ability is that she can heighten her senses a lot to sense things that are very far away. I really don't like this because it is a lot like Jayfeather's and I like him the best so I don't really want another character coming in to steal his spot. Also, no one else can know about their special powers, and from the way the book is going, I have a feeling that she will be the one to mess everything up. Until Dovepaw starts showing some originality and doesn't always think about telling someone their secret, she will not be a very good character in my eyes.
6. Next I think that as the cats try to dismantle the dam, but as they try to do so, the beavers will come back. As they have already experienced. the beavers are ruthless. They are extremely quick and powerful, but not only that, the cats couldn't even put a scratch on them. It was like an ant trying to take down a cat. It was completely hopeless. Then I think that they will break the dam just in time to run away, and maybe even get swept away with the water, but they should get out quick enough and manage to get home with only a few scratches. This book is fairly predictable, because this is about the twentieth book in the series so a lot of it feels like it has happened before.
