1. Right now, Amy who is the main character has just gotten onto a boat with someone who would kill her in a heartbeat as they are all in a competition to get the 39 Clues. The clues lead to ultimate power so this family will kill each other to get it. One of their other competitors, Irina Spasky, has told her that the Kabras (the people she's on the boat with) will tell her that her parents were murdered and that they were going to lie about who the murderer was even though it sounds real. However, the Kabras have told her that Irina was the killer, so now she has no idea who to believe, and if she doesn't agree to the alliance that the Kabras are offering, then things could get very difficult.
2. Right now, I really enjoy reading my book because it is wrapped up with mystery, which I like because then I get to solve out what the characters are trying to find out, and it's always fun to understand something before the characters do. In each 39 clues book, the kids unwrap another mystery so I'm guessing there will be about 39 books, so they're all relatively short. I already went through one this week. However, the books are packed with detail and the adventures the kids go on are both original and interesting. For example, Amy is currently trapped on a boat with people that would kill her in a heartbeat.
3. A theme that I have noticed so far is teamwork. I see this theme when Dan and Amy are trying to figure something out and they always get through things together. When Amy is trying to figure out who to trust, she's alone and ends up on this boat and so things go wrong for her when she's not with Dan. However when she's with Dan she's able to overcome most challenges. For example, when Amy gets nervous she stutters. Dan can see when this is happening and jumps in to do most of the talking so that Amy doesn't show signs of weakness.
4. Right now my favorite character is Irina. She seems like a trustworthy source to me, and I think that Amy should believe her. She used to be a spy so she has all sorts of gadgets to use and is very smart. When we follow her point of view, we usually hear about some sort of child she had that apparently died, although it's not too clear in the book. This child seems to remind her of Dan and Amy which is why I know that she would help them and not try to kill them unless she absolutely had to. She always puts herself first.
5. Right now my least favorite characters are the Kabras. They are sneaky little people who only look after themselves and will quickly make ans alliance just to stab those people in the back. They have a sort of feeling of invincibility which I really don't like because we never see any weak spot of theirs and where most people have something they're particularly good at, they seem to be good at everything. I don't like this because it makes them impossible to outsmart and impossible to avoid or trick. It makes dealing with them frustrating for the characters and the readers.
6. Next i think that somehow, Irina is going to help Amy to escape the boat and because Irina, betrayed the Kabras, she will have to work with Amy to get away from them, which would be fun because for once there would be a team of people who could outsmart and escape the Kabras, or maybe even get them trapped and turn the situation against them. Either way, it sounds like the book is about to pick up speed and get very interesting.
