1. After being stranded on prehistoric Earth for five years, Arthur Dent and Ford Prefect are picked up by Slartibartfast, a Magrathean man who needs them to save the universe. This is last on their priority list, but if they don't do it, evil spaceships will destroy everyone/thing. Meanwhile, Trillan just left Zaphod to do his own thing because he wasn't paying her any attention and just being annoying.

2. I like how Adams is able to incorporate sly humor with witty descriptions. I get a good feel for all the characters in the book because of the way that he describes them, like Marvin, who's voice always displays his depressed mood. I find that some parts are really confusing, like Arthur is suddenly living on Earth for four years, when he just arrived the page before.

3. A theme I've noticed so far is friendship. Without it Arthur and Ford couldn't have survived the prehistoric Earth, or worked out how to catch a fleeing sofa (read the book). Zaphod's girlfriend just walked out on him, so he's feeling very dejected.

4. My favorite character is Ford because he always maintains a good attitude. He's never mad, and totes a happy-go-lucky attitude constantly. Like when he sees how crazy Arthur is at the stone age, he just lets him do his business, and joins in the craziness.

5. My least favorite character is Zarniwhoop, the guy who wants to meet the ruler of the universe. He only thinks of himself and never of what anyone else wants.

6. I predict that Arthur and Ford will reunite with Trillan and Zaphod and then save the universe together.
