1.) At the wealthy french retreat for the summer in New Orleans, a 40 year old wealthy french men name Leonce Pontellier is among one of the richest. Leonce has several servants working for him, and an extremely large guest house, where two of his servants are fighting all the time. Though each of these servants can play the piano extremely well. One servants named Robert, and once servants named Edna. Robert is a clean-shaven, carefree young man, who talks to Leonce about his plans to seek fortune in Mexico. Edna is described as attractive and engaging. Edna likes talking about her childhood in Kentucky bluegrass county and her sister's upcoming wedding. In fact that's all what Edna and Robert end up talking about throughout what I've read in this book.
2) From the 40 pages I have read so far in this book, I think its a decent book. This book is pretty easy to read and has a great plot. So far, I've been looking at this book sort of like a James Bond book. I feel like this rich man is doing some things behind someone's back and someone's going to try to catch him. These first 40 pages have mostly just been summarizing the personality of the characters in the book and the setting. I think that Kate Chopin has done an excellent job with the plot so far, but I think she needs to make something happen soon or the reader will get extremely bored of this book and the plot will turn dull.
3) So far, the dominant theme that is scattered throughout the section I've read is friendship. Whether it's not a nice friendship or it's a compatible friendship. The largest friendship between anyone is the friendship between the two servants. Because each servant both wants all the attention to themselves, so these servants keep fighting and fighting until someone has to break them up, usually being Leonce. Sooner or later, I have a feeling that Leonce will fire these two servants and get knew ones because I can tell he's getting irritated. Though Robert and Edna live off the money Leonce pays them, which is why Leonce is skeptical about releasing them.
4) So far from what I've read, my favorite character is Leonce by far. He has a relaxed personality, which makes the reader more relaxed while reading the book. But also, Leonce and the two other servants are the only characters that have met through the section I have read. I can also relate myself to Leonce. Leonce is an extremely successful business man, and when I get older, going into bussiness always interested me, and I feel like I want to live the same life he does. He donates money to charity, which I would do, and he is humble abour his earnings, which is hopefully what I would act like.
5) So far in this book, my least favorite character would have to be Edna. Even though Robert is still extremely annoying to me, he doesn't appear in the book as much as Edna. The reason Edna is my least favorite character is because Edna goes on and on talking about issues she currently has, or talks about her sisters upcoming wedding. The first time she started talking about this, I was a little intrigued because she has never talked about that subject before. But after a while, after about the 3rd time hearing the same story, I thought the subject got a little old.
6) After all this, I predict that someone will hear something about Leonce doing something he wasn't supposed to be doing. After this, I think the will send someone after to track him down, and Leonce will be on the run. It doesn't make sense for the title to be The Awakening if the book doesn't have anything like this in the book.
