1. In my book right now, Torak is just realizing that the fever that has plagued his village, was created by the Soul Eaters that his father warned him were going to try to kill him. After Toraks father died, he joined the Raven clan, and the man that let Torak into his home, Oslak, has been taken by the plague. Torak sees how he’s affected and he immediately goes and tells the clan leader, but while he's doing this Oslak takes his son onto their bridge and is about to jump off with his son, when Fin Kedin, the clan leader stops him by grabbing him. He then takes Oslak to a hut in the woods designated for sick people. While the mage, who is more like a doctor, is trying to cure him, Torak feels something enter his body. He then screams and runs into the woods and stays there for the night. The next day he decides to go look for the thing that originated this fever and try to stop it.

2. Overall, I think this book is so-so. I really enjoyed the first one and I was really looking forward to reading the next one, but I had to wait till I was done reading the Hunger Games Series, and since this type of fantasy is not the type of book I usually enjoy reading, I think that the plot of the book lost some of its appeal. Though both of these books start out really slow, the first one started much sooner, and though this one is longer, I really want Torak to go on his quest.

3. A theme that I have noticed so far in this book, is panic. Everyone in Toraks new tribe was quick to point fingers at him when they new about the fever. Many of them were saying how stuff like this never happened when he wasn't around, and how people always get mad at him when he gets up in the middle of the night and howls to try to get wolf to come back. And the reason I say panic instead of anger is because they aren't doing this on a sunny Saturday with the birds singing, their all in the middle of winter, with a deathly fever going around.

4. My favorite character so far is Renn. Renn is a girl in the Raven clan that helped Torak get to the Mountain of World Spirits in the first book, and I really admire how smart she is. Though Torak is somewhat smart, I mostly think of him as strong. I really admire how she was one of the only people in her whole clan to trust Torak, and this turned out to be the right decision when they saved the whole forest from the possessed bear.

5. My least favorite character in the book is Fin Kedin, the leader of the Raven clan. Though I feel I am pushed by the author to respect him, I feel like he is almost rude to Torak. When Torak finally realizes that its him that the Soul Eaters are attacking with the fever, Torak tells Fin Kedin this but Fin Kedin asks him what he plans to do to stop this from happening, he asks where he would even start in trying, and I just felt angered by this. Even after Torak saved the whole forest the man that should believe in him most, doesn't at all.

6. My prediction for what will happen next is that I think Torak will reunite with Wolf, but I think Wolf will be fully grown and not as silly and stupid as he was in the first book. The reason I think this is because at the end of the last book when Wolf ran off with a different pack of Wolves, Torak vowed that he would one day find him again. I think they will be reunited when Torak goes on his journey to find the Soul Eaters and stop the fever.
