1. In this book Willa has to deal with her life without a father. Every year she wishes for a father and every year she is again disappoint. Until they move to Bramble, Cape Cod. Her neighbor lost his wife and son, in a terrible accident. At her schools open house her mother meets him and they are laughing, Willa never sees her mother laugh. Therefore her grandma and her play matchmaker and try to make Sam and Willa's mother a wedding planner fall in love. But will her mother ever be able to overcome the fear of loosing someone else so close to her heart?
2. I loved this book so much. This book showed Willa's hardships without a father, and how not being close to your mother matters. It showed her inner self and how sometimes it is o.k. to break rules (rules made by your mother). This book made me realize that i should be grateful for the wonderful father i have and that i could not live without him.
3. I have noticed the theme of hatred. Willa hates her mother at times for ruining her life. (something everyone will say to their parents) She hates her mother for not letting her see the plans for the wedding that she is planning, or how he mother won't let her stay up and read. Willa feels as if she wants to kill her mother for yelling at her when she tries to make a date for Sam and her mother.
4.My favorite character is Willa. She is my favorite character because she tries to get her mother a husband. I think that is such a sweet thing to do. Even for her to take the time to search for a father. I hope that if something ever happened to my dad that i could be like her.
5. My least favorite character would have to be Willa's mother. She does not care for Willa like she is her daughter. She made up many rules such as no going in her office, you have to be in bed before 9, and many others. To me that shows that her mother is scared and does not know what to do . It also may be because she is all alone with a daughter and no husband, as you could imagine that would be hard, but her mother could have cared about Willa more.
6. I predict that in the end Willa and her mother will become closer, and open up to each other. I also think that since Willa's grandmother is getting married she will not want a father as much because now she will have a grandfather.
