1. Right now in my book, the family has just had a Christmas Concert to help raise funds to keep their inn running. The captain, Captain Johnson, had mysteriously arrived on a stormy day a few weeks ago. He has been living with the main character's family (him, her mother, and Meg, an employee at the inn) ever since, and was the one who had proposed the idea of the Christmas concert. However, there is another family in town that wants to buy their inn, the Admiral Anson Inn, and develop it. They are the Moehner (pronounced "meaner") and they are also the ones who own the bank where the inn has a mortgage. The Moehners are always trying to find ways to put the inn out of business, and they tried to do that at the concert. But, the captain got one of the strongest and toughest men in town to sit right behind the Moehners so they would not cause any trouble, which they did not. Also , the captain is teaching the main character about pirates, as that is the topic for his essay at school.

2. I think that the book is amazing. I wish that I was the main character in that book. Imagine, if one winter's day, a mysterious man, who sailed into your harbor, was staying at your house. The captain seems like such a nice and caring man, and this book is completely based off of him. I think that the plot is going to be quite interesting, and right now it very interesting. There have been enough interesting points in this book to keep me interested in it, and all the characters are unique. everyone in this book seems to come form a different background. For instance, the Moehners are German, Meg is Irish, and the captain is British. Overall, this book is interesting enough for me to want to continue reading it.

3. A theme that I have noticed so far is mysteriousness. The way the captain just randomly came into their harbor, the way he never tells anyone about where he came from. Also, he is avoiding all the questions that have been thrown at him. As well, the captain moved a trunk from his ship to their cellar, without telling anyone what was inside. Everything about the captain seems strange, and it is hard to tell what is the truth and what he is making up. In fact not only is a theme mysteriousness, but also deceit as I am sure that the captain is lying somewhere.

4. My favorite character would have to be the captain. Like in the theme, it is interesting how the captain avoids all the questions about where he came from. I am really looking forward to actually finding out about his life. I have a feeling that he will eventually tell the main character about himself, but for now, I can only guess. But that is fun too, and that is why he is my favorite character. Also though, he is a very smart and cunning person. He was able to get the Moehners to leave the inn twice, all thanks to his great planning and cunning. I wish that I could think that well, and that is another reason why I think that Captain Johnson is my favorite character.

5. My least favorite character would have to be the Moehner family in general. They have to make the lives of our characters so miserable that they can hardly stand it. I can hardly stand them. It seems as if they are pure evil, as if their only goal in life is to get our characters out of their inn. And they go about that in the most disrespectful way. They are extremely rude when they enter the inn, hopefully trying to get customers to leave. Also, they have their dog chase after the main character whenever he passes their house. When the mother tries to take her mortgage payment to their bank, the Moehner who runs that bank is pressuring them into selling the inn. This family seems to be pure evil in every way, plus, the rest of the town barely notices it.

6. My prediction for the next segment of the book is that the rest for the winter will pass fairly uneventful. there may be a few things happen here and there, but for the most part, quiet. Then in the spring, Captain Johnson will have fixed his repairs on his boat, the Merry Adventure. But I have just a sneaking suspicion that the main character might continue on with the captain to Boston, which was his destination until he was blown off course to Grey Rocks, Nova Scotia. Then, the main character might come back to Grey Rocks, or he might continue on a few more adventures with the captain. But for know, he is stuck in the Admiral Anson Inn.
