1. Right now in this book Perry has just become part of the prison that happens to be located on the same floor of the country courthouse (4Th) as the warden's apartment. The prison cell that Perry is in is basically part of the warden's apartment. Perry is in a weird situation because the warden's wife Josephine really likes him and thinks he is a good person but the warden is pretty brutal on him and corrects his behavior a lot. Perry is keeping a journal while he is in his cell and in it he writes that he did commit the crime of shooting all 4 victims.

2. I have been really enjoying this book so far. I think I picked an interesting time to read it because we are reading To Kill a Mocking Bird and these books are very similar. This is because Harper Lee based the character Dill on Truman Capote. That being said I think I am in a very intense part of the book. This book has been really interesting and fun to read and I am really liking it. I am getting close to the end of the book and I think I will remember this book for a long time, one of my favorite books of all time.

3. A theme I have noticed recently in the book is what affects an environment can have on a child that is exposed to it. I can say this because Perry had a very rough childhood and now he is in prison. He witnessed his father beating his mother and he had to get away from it. He went in and out of detention homes and the mistress of one of the cottages he went to beat him. After all of this he couldn't take it any more and now he is bitter towards other humans. Since he was exposed to so much abuse he is a totally different person and he takes it out on other people now.

4. My favorite character in the book right now is Herbert Clutter because he is a very successful man with the farm and he has raised a pretty good family. He is almost a model citizen. I also like how he is a leader in the society and a lot of people kind of look up to him, I think if I was a character in the book I would too. He started out small and made his way to the top by the means of his farm and I think that is very interesting. Also as a person he is very nice and he handles himself very well.

5. My least favorite character right now is Bonnie Clutter (Herbert's wife). This is because she is just kind of a let down compared to Herbert. She doesn't do very much at the house, she spends a lot of her time in bed. She can't really follow the image of Herbert and to me it really just doesn't seem like she should be with her. If I was Herbert I would kind of think Bonnie is an embarrassment.

6. To be honest I don't really know what will happen next. I kind of feel like Perry is going to get the death penalty because the judge is trying to get it for him, and all of the people close to Perry aren't coming to visit or see him and jail so if it were to be declared that he be sentenced the death penalty I don't think they would fight it. Also Perry did write down that he killed the 4 people so either the Warden will see the journal or Perry will eventually confess.
