1. Right now in my book, Dan and Amy are at Uncle Alistair's house in his secret library with their cousins who are known for betraying them. They are searching for clues in this priceless library to the family treasure. No one knows what the treasure actually is, but they know it's great because it was worth more than 2 million dollars. Alistair claims that he just found out part of the clue but he's being very mysterious about it all so it seems a little fishy to me.
2. Right now the book is fun to read because like most mysteries, there are a bunch of clues to riddle out. However, after getting a chance to riddle out the clues, the book tells you what it meant so it doesn't have to much suspense. The good part of that however, means that the book is very fast paced and exciting, just not suspenseful.
3. A theme that I have noticed so far is that two wrongs don't make a right. I see this theme all over when Dan is thinking about how he should try to get back at his cousins for everything they've done to him and his sister Amy always has to tell him not to. Recently in my book, Dan had a good idea for a prank to pull on them as a start of his revenge, but Amy reminded him that right now they were on the same side and that they needed their help. She said that he should just try to trust them for now and be on his guard later, but that what happened in the past should stay in the past and there is nothing he can do about it.
4. My favorite character right now is Dan. He is very good at math and always sees things that no one else sees. He is also very good at puzzles so usually you see if you got the puzzle right from his answer. Even though he is very book-smart, he does have a tendency to act before he thinks. He is constantly getting into trouble for him and Amy. The book would just not be possible without Dan.
5. My least favorite character is Uncle Alistair. He is trying to get the children to trust him, yet he is holding back information. He knows things that he refuses to say, so then the children get mad at him. Then he is mad because the children aren't trusting him so he holds back even more information. He keeps feeding his own flames. Watching him do this is very annoying, and in my opinion ruins the story.
6. Next I think that Alistair is going to reveal something important and then the cousins are going to betray them and leave with the valuable information. The cousins also won't want followers so they will make some kind of trap. The book has become somewhat repetitive in this perspective, so it can be a little easy to foreshadow at sometimes, but other times it is completely different.
