1. Right now in my book the main character is waiting in line for there weekly amount of soap. While they are in a man falls down. A doctor came out of the crowd and announced him dead. As the line moved people just stepped over him like nothing ever happened. They did not end up getting any soap because they ran out but on the way home the family saw an old friend but they ignored them because the main characters family is leaving the country to escape communism.
2. The book is showing how hard it was for people in Cuba. It shows the fact of having to sign up to leave the country not just being able to sell your house and leave. You actually have to sign up for it and get your name on a list for the next plane that is leaving for Florida. It shows the truth of losing your job because you want to move.
3. The theme in the book is escape and trust. This family is escaping the lives they have to make there lives better. The theme is also trust because they have to trust their that they will come back to everything they are leaving behind after the country's government changes.
4. My favorite character is the little sister Ileana because she does not understand why her friends wont talk to her anymore. It is hard not to feel bad for her because she does not know what is going on and she is very confused on why they have to move and leave all of their things behind.
5. My least favorite character is Ileana's former best friend because she is ignoring the little sister because she is moving and does not believe in the form of government they have.
6. I think that next the family is going to move and have to adjust all of there living around everything. i also think that they are not going to be able to move back to Cuba.
