Chicken Soup for the Girl's soul
By: Jack Canfield, Mark Victor and Patty Hansen, and Irene Dunlap
Non Fiction
Just Right
I'm on page 180
1.) This book is many girl experiences and stories, put into one. They are all about boy problems, parent problems, and just growing up as a girl. This book also gives information on how to get over tragic deaths, and even problems at school. The book also includes comics, poems, and advice from girls ages 12 to 18. I think this book is focused on helping girls get through their teen and young adult years, which are the hardest. It does that by giving true non fiction stories written by girls and woman who want to give their advice and experience to others.
2.) I am really enjoying this book so far. It has it's mix funny stories from girls with boy stalking issues, sad stories from girls who have experienced a love one or someone they know die, or girls who have honest advice that all girls can use now or later in life. I also enjoy it because it is all real and true, so you can hear stories from girls just like you.
3.) The theme in this book is defiantly girl power. Through out the book everything is linked back to this one thing, Girls Rule! Every story, every comic, and every poem is expressed in a way to show girls a reason why being a girl is so special and cool.
4.) Because this book has so many characters there is not one who is my favorite, but my favorite story is called Sleep Away Camp. In this story a girl named Kellyrose's parents get a divorce which tears her apart. All this depression finally gets to her and causes her to cut her self. Her mom later finds her doing this and hospitalized her. During all this people at school are making fun of her and when she gets out she just holds her head up high and uses that girl power.
5.) My least favorite story is called The Five Flavors, because it is just about girls growing apart and then realizing it and coming back together. There is no girls power or bam which shows you a lesson or gives you advice, because everyone knows when you don't see someone you grow apart from that person.
6.) Because there are no plots or story lines it is imposable to predict what is going to happen next, but I think there are a lot of things on crushes coming up soon.
