1) Right now in this book, the main character, Percy Jackson, has just fought a battle with the god of war, Ares. He did this after escaping the clutches of Hades, the god of the dead, and figuring out who has stolen the almighty lightening bolt of Zeus. He realized it was Ares who is trying to start a war amongst his brothers simply for the pleasure of it. Percy found this out and just battled him and miraculously got a good hit on Ares before a strange cloud came over the sun and Ares dissappeared suddenly.
2) I feel that this is a great book. There is tons of detail and every page something interesting happens. I very much enjoy reading this book and it is one that I actually do not want to put down once I've started.
3) A very large theme I've noticed so far in this book is trust. There are many people that Percy and his two companions meet on their quest that end up being other demigods or less powerful gods that try to kill Percy. He has to learn who to trust and when things seem suspicious or possibly dangerous. A good amount of the characters are demigods so Percy must be careful of who he trusts.
4) My favorite character is Percy. He is also the main character. He is a very cool kid that has powers he never knew of. Whenever he steps in water he is practically invincible because he finds out that he is the son of Posiedon, the god of the sea. He is quick-witted and smart when it comes to dangerous situations. Percy can always find a way out of a fix and keep himself as well as his friends safe.
5) My least favorite character is a girl named Clarisse. She is a girl that Percy meets at a camp who is the daughter of Ares. She's a very large girl with a horrible attitude and is basically the bully of the book who likes to mess around and harm Percy whenever she can just for the fun of it.
6) For what is going to happen next, I believe that Percy and his two friends, Grover and Annabeth, will return the lightening bolt to Zeus, and can hopefully stop an oncoming war of the gods. They have the huge bolt and are desperately trying to make it to Olympus before the summer solstice, because that is the date of which his bolt must be returned by. The day is currently the day of the solstice and Percy is trying to hurry and return the bolt.
