1. Right now in my book Winston is having thoughts about how he wants to go against Big Brother and how he wants to rebel. He along with everybody else is paranoid that the Thought Police will find something that they did wrong because they watch everything you do and listen to everything you say. Winston is having these thoughts because he is feeling oppressed.
2. I am very interested in the book because it was written a long time ago about the future. Since the era he was writing about already happened it is fun seeing what predictions were right and which ones were wrong. Surprisingly some of his predictions are really close, like helicopters and TVs.
3. The theme I have noticed most is free thinking. I noticed this when Winston started thinking freely and against Big Brother. Also you see people trying to get people to stop thinking freely. You see this in the daily hate sessions, where the government plays a tape about how bad it is to be different and someone who wants a free country.
4. My favorite character so far is Winston because I like how he won't be controlled his whole life . Also I like how he is very grounded and does not hope for miracles and knows what is going to happen to himself and everyone else who shared the same view as he does. In this book it is illegal to have second thoughts about the government. If they find out about these thoughts it is punishable by death.
5. My least favorite character is Big Brother. I don't think he is one person but I think it is a metaphor for the whole government. Big Brother reminds me a lot like a dictator because of the fact that he controls peoples lives as if they are his puppets. Big Brother (the government) reminds me a lot like the governments in China and Russia and I think Winston is trying to stop that from happening.
6. I think that someone will rat Winston out and the thought police will come after him. I think that he will run away and he will end up finding people with the same views as he does and they will try to start a revolution.
