1. At this point in my book the main character, Ruby, has gotten herself into a little trouble. She was having a bad day and she decided to leave school early, technically she was ditching, to go get drunk. However, like most of the time, this backfired, she found herself passed out in the woods later on. A girl named Olivia told one of Ruby’s friends, Nate, and he drove ten miles into the woods to find her. Now Ruby has gone to apologize and explain things to Olivia and while doing so she realizes she wasn’t very grateful to Nate at the time and now she’s faced with one of the hardest things to do, make it up to him.
2. So far I have enjoyed this book. I like the fact that it’s about kids only a few years older than me because I hear stories about people that I know and it’s entertaining to read about dramatic stuff like that. The books that have always been most appealing to me were all teenage drama types and at this stage in my life they are pretty much the only kinds that could get me to like reading.
3. The theme I have noticed would probably be taking responsibility for your actions. I think this is the theme that stands out to me most right now because ever since Ruby made the mistake of drinking, she’s been trying to make things right with everyone who was involved and may have been effected by it. It’s kind of like the saying “do the crime, pay the time” or something like that. The crime was drinking and the time is apologizing and making up for her mistake.
4. My favorite character is Olivia. She seems really down to earth and understanding. She’s one of those girls that doesn’t judge you from what she hears, she judges you from what she finds out about you herself. There aren’t many girls like that and I think it’s a great quality to have.
5. My least favorite character is Ruby’s mom. She made growing up so much harder on her daughter than it had to be. Not that Ruby had an awful life, I mean it could’ve been worse but still her mother never really considered the affect her actions had on her daughter.
6. I think that Ruby is going to end up apologizing to Nate and she’s going to realize that she wants more than just a friendship with him. I think that they are going to start dating and he’s going to help push Ruby’s life in the right direction and keep her out of trouble.
