1. Right now Ronnie is going home from her first night at Wrightstville Beach. She met some snobby popular people and some low lifes. She started hanging around with a girl named Blaze and these gross guys Marcus, Teddy, and Lance. I think these people are bad news and are going to be a bad influence on Ronnie. Later during the day Ronnie also saw some cute boys playing volleyball with some pretty girls. She immediately assumes these are the popular, rich people and she wanted nothing to do with them. One of the boys Will had accidentally spilled soda on Ronnie so she got very mad at him. But Will had been watching Ronnie all day and started to become interested in her. He even told her dad where she was so that she would be kept from harm. I have a feeling that he will try to make things happen between him and Ronnie.
2. So far I am really enjoying the book. Nicholas Sparks has a way of grabbing readers attention. He doesn't have action packed suspenseful scenes yet I'm hooked to another one of his great books. I like how descriptive the writing is in this book. I also like how each chapter is from a different character's perspective. It lets you look at the story in a different way and it makes you understand each character's feelings and opinions.
3. A theme I have noticed so far is independence. Ronnie is a character who is going through a stage of teenage rebellion. She wants nothing to do with her parents and disobeys all their rules. She is mean to them and ignores all their efforts to be nice to her. She is trying to be independent and she can't wait until she turns eighteen. She wants to be an independent person who is free to make her own decisions. I don't understand why she hates her parent so much and wants to be freed of them so badly. They are nice people who are just trying to do what's best for her.
4. My favorite character is Will. Everyone thinks he's a typical beach boy, who dates all the pretty girls. He is attractive and hangs out with popular people, but he's different. He's actually a nice, sweet boy who is friends with the wrong people. He's kind and sensitive, and smart. He doesn't date girls that have bad personalities, and hes looking for the right girl. I think that Ronnie is the perfect match for him and they will fall in love.
5. My least favorite character is Marcus. He is a guy that just throws away his life and does bad things like drugs, and drinking. He doesn't care about girl's feelings at all, he just wants action. He treats girls horribly and uses them all the time. He also always picks fights with people which just shows how much of a low life he is. He needs to stop messing around and start thinking about the things that actually matter in life.
6. I predict that Ronnie is going to make a stronger relationship with her dad. She is going to stay with him all summer so they have to make up some time. Maybe he will pull her out of her teenage rebellion stage. I also predict that Ronnie and Will will get to know each other and eventually fall in love.
