1) The main character Jamal has just gotten in a fight with an older boy that makes fun of him at school. The other boys name is Dwayne and hes been picking on Jamal for most of his life just being a bully to him. That and other factors have just made Jamals day a bad one and so he and Dwayne end up having a fight. After they have been punching and shoving for a little bit, Jamal brings out a gun that he brought to school for protection. He doens't end up shooting Dwayne but scares him very badly and than runs out of school.
2) I feel the book is a good one. The author does a good job of describing the setting and telling about how Jamals life is going and what is happening.
3)The main theme I have noticed so far in this book is bravery. It takes a lot of bravery for Jamal to just go about his everyday life which is partly based in the streets. Being a gang leader, there are many chances he could get shot just walking on the street. Also, with his older brother in jail, it takes courage and bravery for Jamal to get through life.
4) My favorite character so far is Jamal, he is a great person who has a lot of guts and knows how to survive in a dangerous area.
5)My least favorite character would be Dwayne. He's just a mean bully who always picks on Jamal. It's also not fair for Jamal because Dwayne is older and bigger.
6)I think Jamal will either try to run away and survive on the streets or he will come home and try to figure out what to do and ask his mother for help.
