1. Right now, what is happening in this book, is that Harry Potter, the main character, just arrived at Hogwarts for his fifth year of magical studies. He is lucky to be returning at all, because earlier this summer he was attacked by dementors, evil creatures that can only be driven away by a patronous charm. However, underage wizards are not allowed to use magic outside of school, and the use of the Patronus charm was Harry's second offense. He could have been expelled, but he was cleared of all charges instead because he was defending himself. Harry is on his way to his first Defense Against the Dark Arts lesson, which is taught by a new teacher, Dolores Umbridge. He will soon see why the ministry sent a ministry worker to teach at Hogwarts.
2.So far in this book, I feel like it is a fantastic book. I have always loved J.K. Rowling's unique, and fast paced writing style. Something new is always happening, and there is never a boring moment. Also, I enjoy the blunt, sarcastic humor littered throughtout the book. Finally, I enjoy the always changing plot, and the details and subtle references to other books in the series, and the small but significant twists in the plot. All in all, I enjoy this book.
3. One theme that I have noticed in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is the theme of bravery. This theme is displayed when Harry has to fight the dementors, he risks expulsion from Hogwarts in order to save his cousin. Also, bravery is shown during Harry's hearing, in the way that he refuses to back down when the minister of magic (Cornelius Fudge) tries to pin him with false accusations. These are a few of the places where bravery has been displayed in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
4. So far, my favorite character is Luna Lovegood. One reason for this is because she always seems to act as though she is living in a dream, and often this can result to be quite funny. For example, her father is the editor of The Quibbler, a nonsense magazine which often publishes stories on creatures such as 'garbled wrankspurts' and other non-existent creatures. This adds an element of silliness to the book, which I enjoy.
5. My least favorite character is Severus Snape. He holds a grudge on Harry, because he knew and loathed James Potter, Harry's father. He is always criticizing Harry unfairly, insulting him, or even vanishing his potions and giving him zero marks for the day. He is one of Harry's least favorite teachers, and I find him very infuriating.
6. I predict that when Harry goes to his defense against the dark arts class he will be greeted by a very evil teacher, who will take an immediate disliking to him.
